Jessica Martin

Jessica Martin is a K-12 teacher librarian currently working at an elementary school in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Through her 14 years in public education, she has taught 4th-8th grade and served as a technology coach and mentor in middle school.  Through her platform "The Whimsical Teacher" she encourages and empowers educators to be advocates for gender equity and inclusion while being dedicated to foster transformative learning experiences through a social justice lens. With a commitment to empower students as young as kindergartners to think critically and act with compassion she creates inclusive spaces where diverse voices are valued, systemic inequalities are challenged, and meaningful change is created. Through innovative pedagogy, advocacy and collaboration, she strives to create a just and equitable world-- one library lesson at a time.

Jessica has joined SSASV to become a bridge between the organization and the community in order to build partnerships, raise awareness, and foster safe spaces for dialogue and healing. In this role, she is passionate about empowering survivors, allies, and educators alike to drive social change and create a collective action to keep students safe in all educational spaces.
